Staff Accountant (Part-Time)

Description:Supports the financial management and operations of the Credit Union through maintenance of accounting records and reports. Performs tasks within the general accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, accruals, prepaids, and fixed assets. Prepares entries and adjustments to Company records, files, and statements.
Duties: Posts journal entries, processes payments, verifies information files and assists in preparation of reports.
Completes daily and monthly reconciliations as assigned.
Collects invoices, date stamps and codes them to the proper vendor and general ledger accounts and forwards to manager for review and payment approval. Enters approved invoices into accounting system, processes check payments, and remits to appropriate parties.
Processes bi-weekly employee payroll under the oversight of the Human Resources department.
Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Experience Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Financial industry experience preferred.

Education A high school education or GED

Interpersonal Skills Normal courtesy in dealing with others is required. Work involves minimal contacts, usually within the organization. Contact usually involving routine, non-sensitive issues.

Other Skills Technical knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports.
Knowledge of related computer applications.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines. Strong verbal, written and public speaking skills and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of regulations within the credit union industry.
Must be able to operate a 10-key calculator by touch.
Must be able to use PC spreadsheet software.
