|Description:||First New York FCU is currently seeking to fill the position of Collector. This is a full time, permanent position. The Collector has a direct impact on the mitigation and recovery of credit union losses on delinquent, negative or charged off accounts. Daily outbound collection calls and sending collection letters is required as well as reviewing reports, handling restraining notices, levies and filing disability and life insurance claims. Collection activities will be performed for multiple loan products utilizing various systems and methods. The Collector will be expected to participate in all stages of the collection process to include loss mitigation, foreclosures, skip tracing, insurance claims, repossessions, charge offs, recovery, bankruptcy and collection agency liaison. Superior verbal, written and telephone communication skills expected. Successful negotiations for payment arrangements will require persistence and excellent customer service.|
Other responsibilities include routine correspondence with members and agencies, assisting with account preparations for collection agencies, attorneys and preparing for charge offs, completing information subpoenas and restraining notices. Duties will also include maintaining member files, records and assisting with various department processes.
It is preferred that the candidate have a 4-year degree with 2 years collection related experience or 5 years collection related experience. Must have the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is necessary to be successful in this position.
